ミントは多年草です。冬になり霜にあたると地上部は枯れてしまいますが根が生きており春に復活します。メントールの香りが特徴です。葉は青々とした緑色をしています。非常に剛健です。ガムや香料など多く利用され葉を乾燥させたものを利用します。殺菌効果もあります。
【育て方】
日当たりがよく、湿った土壌を好みます。非常に生育が旺盛で地中茎で爆発的に増えます。冬に霜にあたると地上部は枯れます。根は春まで残り春に新芽を伸ばします。特に生育で難しいことはありません。
