【名前の由来】
【商品情報】シオジは30mになる落葉広葉樹です。葉は奇数羽状複葉です。樹皮はやや褐色を帯びた灰白色で、縦の裂け目が割合規則正しいです。シオジは本州、四国、九州の湿潤地に自生します。樹幹は真っすぐで枝下が長く断面も正円に近いです。渓流沿いに見られるシオジの雄姿はすばらしいです。木材としても利用されます。
【育て方】
日向でも日陰でも成長します。適湿な場所を好みます。積雪には弱く、乾燥した寒風にも弱いですので当たらないところに植えるようにします。萌芽力はとても強いですので強い刈り込みにも耐えます。生垣として利用する場合高さが出やすいので、放任せず芯を止めて枝葉を出すように剪定を行ってください。
