バラ科シャリンバイ属
常緑高木

【名前の由来】
葉が丸いことから。小枝が車輪の主軸のように放射状に成長しウメのような花が咲くことから。
【商品情報】
シャリンバイは常緑高木です。4～5月に梅に似た花が咲きます。とても満開になり、見ごたえがあります。潮風にも強い品種です。グランドカバーにも使われますが、伸ばして生垣にも使われます。
【育て方】
日当たりがよく肥沃な土地を好みます。樹形は自然に整いますので伸びすぎた枝を切る程度にします。剪定は6～8月におこないます。肥料は2～3月か9月ごろに与えます。
