【タイワンツバキ】（台湾椿）
読み：たいわんつばき
学名：Gordonia axillaris
ツバキ科ツバキ属
常緑高木
別名：ゴードニア
【商品情報】
ツバキは日本を代表する花木です。世界各地で栽培されていて様々な品種があります。葉は光沢があり楕円形～卵型です。花は10～4月の間に咲きます。花は花びらが散らず、額から落ちます。種子からは椿油が取れます。比較的に繁殖しやすい品種です。ヤブツバキ系、ユキツバキ系、ワビスケ系、肥後椿系などの多彩な品種があります。
【育て方】
日向を好みますが日陰でも育ちます。適湿で肥沃な土壌でよく育ちます。刈り込みにも強いですので生垣に最適です。放任しても比較的に樹形が整います。
