ヒノキ科イトスギ属
常緑高木
別名：ホソイトスギ、セイヨウヒノキ、イトスギ、イタリアイトスギ
【名前の由来】
【商品情報】イタリアンサイプレスは45mになる常緑高木です。地中海沿岸からヨーロッパ南部に自生しています。葉はうろこ状で十字に対生し濃緑色になります。花は3～6月に咲きます。幹は灰褐色です。実はヒノキに似て丸く3～4cmになります。細長く成長します。ゴッホ「糸杉」の絵で知られています。
【育て方】
日当たりが良く肥沃な場所を好みます。根があまり強くないため強風が吹かない場所を選びます。地植えする場合、支柱を立てたほうがいいでしょう。樹形は自然に整うため剪定は不要です。
