アサ科エノキ属
落葉高木
別名：エ、エノミ、 エノミノキ、アブラギリ
【名前の由来】
木材が農機具の柄に使われたから。
【商品情報】
エノキは高さは10ｍ以上になり直径は1ｍ以上になる落葉高木です。風合いがケヤキに似ています。葉は厚く、青々としています。雌雄同種で一つの花にオシベとメシベが出来ます。花の後に食用にもできる直径5ｍｍ程度の赤い実がなり、甘く鳥を呼びます。江戸時代には1里塚として植えられました。乾燥地でもよく成長し剛健ない品種です。
【育て方】
日向でも日陰でも成長します。6～7月ごろに剪定を行います。肥料は2～3月か6月に与えるようにしましょう。
