金属コバルト99.99％、約100グラム、大型ペレットの出品です。
鉄・ニッケル・ガドリニウムと並んで室温付近で強磁性を示す数少ない元素のひとつです。
ニッケルよりも産出が限られており高価で、日本においてはレアメタルと位置付けられ備蓄の対象となっています。
金属としては単独で用いられることはあまりなく、合金として用いられることがほとんどですが、工業的にきわめて重要な資源です。。
化合物としては近年スマートフォンなどに用いられる二次電池の材料としての需要が極めて多く、需要に対して供給が充分に追いつかないようです。
