【キンモクセイ】（金木犀）
読み：きんもくせい
学名：Osmanthus fragrans var. aurantiacus
モクセイ科モクセイ属
常緑高木
別名：ケイカ、タンケイ、モクセイカ
【商品情報】
綺麗な緑が特徴で生垣によく使われる樹種です。幹が幾つかに分かれて多く分岐して丸型の樹形になります。樹皮は灰褐色で葉は濃緑色です。雌雄異株で日本で栽培されている物はほとんど雄株です。９～１３月にオレンジの小さな花が枝に付け根にビッシリ咲きます。匂いがとてもよく沈丁花、クチナシとともに三香木とされています。モクセイの仲間にはキンモクセイであるオレンジの花のものと、年中咲く四季咲きキンモクセイ、白色のギンモクセイ、淡黄色のウスギモクセイがあります。
【育て方】
日向から半日陰の場所を好みます。土壌の多湿と乾燥を嫌いますので植え付け位置には注意が必要です。刈り込みには強いです。大気汚染に弱い樹種で汚れているところでは花が咲かなかったりします。
