Sire（サイアー）はMarcus Millerが監修したベースをリリースしたブランドとして一躍有名になりました。彼らが製造するギター・ベースのクオリティは非常に高く、マーカスファン以外からも高く支持されています。
こちらは新製品のZ3-5です。
見ての通りMusicman Stingrayをモチーフとしたモデルです。
ネックの雰囲気なんか昔っぽい感じで素敵ですよね。
ボディ材はMahoganyです。
インドネシアでは良質なMahoganyが流通しているので、そこを採用した形でしょう。
実際のところ、Musicmanにおいてもボディ材については見た目を除いて無頓着なところがあるので、音への影響という意味ではあまり重きを置いていないかもしれません。（私見です）
この手のデザインにとっては、PUの性能と配置、そしてプリアンプが非常に重要な要素となります。
SIREはどちらも自社のオリジナルデザインを採用。
特にプリアンプは元のJB用のものを流用しているわけではなく、専用にHERITAGE-3というプリアンプを開発しました。
コントロールはボリューム、トレブル、ミドル、ベース。
ベースノブをプルアップするとプリアンプをバイパスしてパッシブとして駆動可能です。
元もMusicman Stingrayにはパッシブのオプションはないので、この点はポジティブに捉えられる方も多いと思います。
指板、フレットの仕上がりは抜群。
この価格帯では当然ながら、もっと上の価格帯と比較しても遜色のない、高いクオリティで仕上げられています。
サウンドはバキッとした強い高音域とタイトな低音域を備えた、期待通りのサウンド。
今までこのタイプはあまり選択肢がなかったのですが、ようやく素晴らしいレプリカが登場したと感じます。おすすめです。
