HUF(ハフ)の創設者Keith Hufnagel（キース・ハフナゲル）は80年代後半、舗装もされていないNew Yorkの路地でスケボーして育った。 当時スケートボードとはパンクやヒップホップのように荒くれ者のカウンターカルチャー（反体制文化）として一般に受け入れられてはいなかった。
そしてそんな環境がHufnagelの物の見方や考え方の基盤を造り上げた。
1992年、Hufnagelはスケボーをさらに追求しようとSan Franciscoに移り住んだ。 そして間もなくプロスケーターになり、スケボーを通して世界中を旅して廻るという環境に恵まれた。
”do-it-yourself”スタイルでスケボーしながら育ち、そんな自分を作り上げたSan Franciscoテンダーロインディストリクトの片隅に、それまで他に無かったスタイルの小さいブティックをオープンさせた。 Hufnagelはスケートボード、ストリートファッション、そしてスニーカーなどの各分野で最もリスペクトされているブランドを取り扱う店を目指し”HUF”と名付け、ベイエリアで入手困難な商品が手に入るプレミアショップとして瞬く間に広がっていった。
ショップの急速な成長とその人気を確信したHufnagelは、スケートボード、ストリートファッション、スニーカー文化を落とし込んだ自身のブランド ”HUF” を立ち上げた。
インパクトのあるオレンジカラーのボディに反射するリフレクターテープとロゴワッペンのポケットが付いた、モータースポーツテイストなシンプルデザイン。
