【ドイツ兵士の足となり駆けた傑作ハーフトラック】
第二次大戦中にドイツ軍が運用した半装軌車(ハーフトラック)の中でも、最も小型の車輌がケッテンクラートです。
車体中央のエンジンで履帯を駆動し、オートバイ型ハンドルで進行方向を操作。
優れた重心設計や挟み込み式転輪により、高い走破性と牽引力を誇りました。
また、大戦中に8000輌以上製造されたケッテンクラートの中でも、1943年から1944年にかけての生産車は、それまでの型式に比べ丸みのあるテールライト基部や、後部座席側面の補強板などが特徴。
大戦後半の各戦線で幅広い任務に使用されました。
