Ken Yokoyamaの 約2年半ぶりとなる8thフルアルバム"Indian Burn"が完成！
Ken Yokoyamaの2023年は凄かった。まずは5月に「Better Left Unsaid」、9月に「My One Wish」、
11月には「These Magic Words」と3枚のシングルを立て続けにリリースしてきた。
リリースだけでは無い。コロナ禍では行ってこなかったライブハウス公演を解禁し、帰ってきたパンクの王様を印象付けたかと思えば、
自身初の日比谷野音やLINE CUBE SHIBUYA(渋谷公会堂)を含むこれまた初のホールツアーまでやってのけた。
これまでのKen Yokoyamaの活動からは想像出来なかった出来事だが、長い長いコロナ禍を黙々と音源制作やライブのあり方に向き合い、
逆境を乗り越えたバンドは気付けば新たな武器を手にしていた。そんな近年の集大成とも言うべき作品が今回のアルバムだ。
軽快なリフで幕を開けるオープニングナンバー”Parasites”では直球のメロディックパンクを披露したかと思えば、
”Show Must Go On”ではミッドテンポに乗せて[なにがあってもショーを続けなければならない]と決意を歌う。
ライブではすでに定番曲になりつつある、先述の3枚のシングルからもリード曲3曲が収録と聴きどころ満載。
さらに初回盤にはそんな彼らの近年を追ったバンドドキュメンタリーDVDが付属。改めてKen Yokoyamaというバンドとは何なのかを紐解く。
早くも2024年年間ベストアルバムの登場だ。
