95年に漫画雑誌『ガロ』でデビューして以来、ポップなキャラクターで、超現実的なストーリーを描き、『爆裂瞑想バキトマ道』『げだつマン』『へろみの夏休み』などの単行本を発表し、近年ではフランスでも翻訳が出ている漫画家キクチヒロノリ。
2011年頃から、漫画の手法を用いながら、夢で見たり頭に浮かんだイメージを新たなスタイルで描くようになりました。なかでも11～16年にかけての作品は、錬金術や銅版画、木版画、古い術師の言葉に通じるものが頻出します。
約8年にわたって描きおろした作品を、このたび『ALCHEMICAL GRAPHICS』と題してまとめました。緻密なイメージで紙面が埋め尽くされたモノクロ画は、さながら発掘された古代の石版か宇宙人からのメッセージのようです。
キクチヒロノリ
日本の漫画家、画家。本名は菊池弘紀。
中学生時代はハードロックとヘヴィメタルを聞きまくる生活を送り、大学入学後はデザイン関係の仕事をし始めたが、それに飽き足らず漫画家デビューを『ガロ』で果たす（1995年にKikuchi hironori名義にて）。のちに名義を菊地弘紀、キクチヒロノリと変更する。
『ガロ』廃刊後は「後継誌」ともされる『アックス』に作品を掲載していたが、1999年12月25日発行の『アックス』Vol.12への作品掲載を最後に、同誌への作品発表がなくなる。2009年4月30日発行の『アックス』Vol.68の特集「スージー甘金と塗コミック派」に10年ぶりに作品が掲載されるが、その後『アックス』誌への作品発表はされていない。
その後は、インディーズ漫画雑誌『架空』に作品を発表。2011年には『架空』にてキクチヒロノリ特集号が刊行された。また、2019年には自主製作にて『キクチヒロノリ画集 Hironori KIKUCHI the drawoing of ALCHEMICAL GRAPHICS』を刊行した。
