1943年愛知県に生まれる。昭和36年『拳銃にかけろ』でデビュー。手塚治虫の影響を受けた。代表作に『風のフジ丸』がある。この『史記』シリーズには全精力を傾け“人間のにおい”を追求し、ライフワークとなる。その他『学習まんが日本の歴史』『超電導入門』など。
【久保田千太郎】
1942年岡山県に生まれる。早大演劇科卒。演劇NLT演出部を経て現在シナリオライター。中国歴史ものの構成を手がける第一人者として人気がある。『史記』12巻『三国志』15巻『水滸伝』10巻『シルクロード』15巻（講談社刊）も執筆した。
