1892年ニューヨークでスポーティンググッズの販売を開始したアバクロ、その1年前の1891年にシカゴにて始まった"VON LENGERKE & ANTOINE（VL&A）"のアイテムです。
アバクロ同様、主にスポーティンググッズの販売でスタートしています。
この二つのブランドは創業時期も近く、尚且つプロダクツも良く似ておりハンティングアイテムやキャンプ用品、銃関連のアイテムなど高品質なものを高所得者向けに生産していました。
VL&Aは、M1911で有名な銃器メーカーのコルトやウィンチェスターなどの製造も手掛けており、20〜30年代には禁酒法時代の有名なギャング、アル・カポネも行きつけの店だったようです。
当時、全米の中でも信頼のおける高い水準を誇っていたメーカーと推測できます。
後の57年にアバクロに吸収合併され、市場でもより出現数の低いアイテムではございますが、シャツやハンティングモノがお好きな方にはファンも多いブランドです。
