学名：Enkianthus quinqueflorus
ツツジ科ドウダンツツジ属
半常緑低木
別名：エンキアンツス
【名前の由来】
香港産のドウダンツツジであることから
【商品情報】ホンコンドウダン/ピンクシャンデリアは1.5mになる半常緑低木です。中国、香港原産です。葉は互生し、卵型～長卵形です。光沢があり全縁で葉先がとがります。花は上部の葉腋から花柄をたらし、釣鐘形の小さな花を下向きにつけます。基部が赤色を帯び、花弁は淡紅色～白色です。幹は灰褐色で筋が入り細かい斑点があります。中国産の常緑性ドウダンツツジです。寒さには弱いので、霜が降りる地域では落葉しますが、枯れることはありません。
【育て方】
日当たりがよく、水はけのよい場所を好みます。夏場の水切れに注意します。剪定は特に必要ありません。剪定を行う場合は、花後すぐに行ってください。鉢植えの場合は2年に1度くらいを目安に鉢替えを行ってください。
