小林よしのり
大学在学中の昭和50年に『ああ 勉強一直線』を投稿。翌年、「週刊少年ジャンプ」（集英社）にてデビュー作『東大一直線』を連載開始、大ヒットとなる。
デビュー当時は福岡で執筆活動を行なっていたが、『東大一直線』の続編『東大快進撃』の連載終了後しばらくして上京。以降は東京都在住。
昭和61年、「月刊コロコロコミック」（小学館）にて連載された『おぼっちゃまくん』が大ヒット。昭和64年にはアニメ化もされ、第34回小学館漫画賞を受賞した。主人公が喋る「茶魔語」が子供たちの間で流行語となり社会現象となる。今でも根強い人気がありグッズ等の販売がされている。
平成4年、「SPA!」（扶桑社）にて、社会問題に斬り込む『ゴーマニズム宣言』を連載開始。すぐさま日本の思想状況を一変する大ヒットとなる。特に、同シリーズのスペシャル本として発表された『戦争論』『戦争論2』『戦争論3』（すべて幻冬舎）は言論界に衝撃を与え、大ベストセラーとなった。
