高校フットボールの監督である父を持つ青年が、フットボールで夢を叶えられなかった父の夢を引き継いで練習漬けの生活を送っていた。
だがそこに美しい転校生が現れて、彼の生活は一転するー。
オレゴン州ポートランドにあるノートルダム高校のフットボールチームは大会を目前にして猛烈な勢いで練習を重ねていた。
監督は自分が選手だったときに取れなかった大学フットボールの 奨学金を、才能ある選手である息子のクレイグなら取れると期待 を寄せている。
だがクレイグは、ある日フランスから来たエスメラルダという美 しい交換留学生と出会った。
彼女と知り合い惹かれていくクレイグは、フットボール以外のこ とにも次第に目を向けていくようになっていく。
それを快く思わない父は二人を別れさせようとして―。
