－ガーディナーは1974年 モンテヴェルディ管 他と当曲を録音しており (DECCA)、当録音は再録音になりますが、旧録音はマニフィカトIIを省く13曲の録音でした。－速めのテンポを用いたシャープな演奏で、劇的で生命力に溢れており、この名曲随一の名演奏と言っていいでしょう。ガーディナーに鍛えられた合唱のうまさも光ります。
