現代を代表するピアニスト、クリスチャン・ツィメルマンの4年振りのアルバム。ルトスワフスキがザルツブルク音楽祭の委嘱により1987年に作曲、1988年の同音楽祭においてツィメルマンと作曲者の指揮によって初演されたピアノ協奏曲は、ツィメルマンのために書かれたもの。ツィメルマンはルトスワフスキ指揮BBC交響楽団とこの曲をDGに1989年に録音しており、2013年の本録音は約20年ぶりの再録音となった。共演はサイモン・ラトル指揮ベルリン・フィル。交響曲第2番をカップリング。 (C)RS
