アメリカン・スポーツカーのアイコンとして確固たるポジションを築くコルベット。
現在は8世代目を数えるが、同車が誕生したのは1953年、今からちょうど70年前のことである。
ホットウィールがモチーフとした1956年型は旧来の直6エンジンと決別し、強力なV型8気筒エンジンが標準装備されたことで知られ、コルベットの評価を飛躍的に高めたことで知られる。
とは言え、ホットウィールは市販車を再現したのではなく、『バービー』の実写版映画に登場するEV（電気自動車）の1956年型コルベットをモチーフにしている。『バービー』劇中車の特徴である、本来のコルベットには備わらない後席もしっかりと再現するなど、コルベット・ファンだけでなく、バービー好きの琴線に触れる1台とも言えるだろう。
