【名前の由来】
ギリシャ語の軟毛が語源で、全体に軟毛が生える種類が多いことから。
【商品説明】
エリカは常緑低木です。成長は遅くあまり大きくありません。よく分岐して横に広がっていきます。2月から4月にかけてえつぼ型の小さな花をさかせます。枝に針のように細く細かい葉っぱをたくさんつけます 。園芸品種の多い花木でその数は400種以上と言われています。
【育て方】
日当たりの良い場所を好みますのでよく日光にあてて育てますが、暑さにはあまり強くないので真夏の直射日光は避けたほうがいでしょう。寒さにもあまり強くないので霜の降りる場所への植え付けも注意してください。真夏の高温時に水をあげすぎると過湿気味となり株を弱らせることがあるので控えめにしてください。
