1967年東京都出身。1987年月刊アフタヌーン四季賞にSTRAIGHTが入選しデビュー。週刊ビッグコミックスピリッツにて連載された鉄コン筋クリートは、2006年に劇場アニメ化。ピンポンは2002年実写映画化、2014年テレビアニメ化。竹光侍は、第11回文化庁メディア芸術祭マンガ部門で優秀賞を、第15回手塚治虫文化賞でマンガ大賞を受賞。月刊！スピリッツにて発表されたSunnyは、第61回小学館漫画賞、第20回文化庁メディア芸術祭マンガ部門優秀賞
