探検部で活動した大学時代、社会人として国内外で多くの経験を積んだ日本航空での日々。団塊世代の著者が若き日の自分を見つめ回顧した痛快青春記。
若いということはエネルギーにあふれているということではありますが、山登りにたとえるとまだ登山口に入ったところです。見晴らしは悪く、景色も良くない。そしてゴツゴツした岩肌にぶつかったり、ブッシュの中でさまよったりしている状態です。もちろん、頂上はまったく見えないのです。
あらためて目の前の仕事を眺めてみると、よく耕されたフィールドはなく、未開の荒野が広がっているように見えてきました。そこで起こっている問題を深掘りして、一つのプロジェクトとして多くの人たちと解決に向かって取り組んでいく。そういったプロジェクトの進め方は大学の探検部時代に経験していました。その経験が大いに役に立ちます。
大学入学から10数年たって、ようやく登山口にさしかかった当時の私には、その後の展開は知るよしもありませんが、今やるべきことは少しわかってきた感じはありました。
ともかくも、仕事と知研の二本足で立って行こうと、漠然とした方向感のもとで歩きはじめました。
その後の疾風怒濤の人生行路に、未知の対象に対する探検精神だけを頼りに向かっていきました。(終わりにより)
