ゲルマニアはドイツを意味するラテン語です。ローマ帝政期にはドイツ系蛮族が住んでいたライン川の東とドナウ川の北の地域がゲルマニアと呼ばれていました。 当時、コインとレリーフに関する最初の擬人化が登場し、勇敢な女性(国の守護者)を描いていました。
コイン
2020年のコインには風に吹かれた堂々としたポーズのレイディゲルマニアと双頭の鷲が描かれています。この鷲はローマ神話のすべての起源の神、ドア、門、通路と橋の守護者、契約と同盟の守護神であるヤヌスに関するゲルマン神話のシンボルです。鷲の相対する頭は過去と未来を象徴し、鷲の爪に宿す稲妻は神の属性で、創造と破壊の力を象徴しています。
