まさにこれはチルウェイヴのネクスト・レヴェル！様々なアーティストからのラヴ・コールを受け、これまでJames Blake、School of Seven Bells、White Lies、White Rabbits等と共演を果たしてきた注目の逸材のデビュー・フル・アルバムが遂に完成！ 彼のベッドルームは宇宙なのか！？LAの才人、Pat Grossiによるプロジェクト、Active Childの待望のデビュー・フル・アルバムが完成！ 昨年Merok(USはFilter US Recordings)からリリースされたデビューEP、『Curtis Lane』が話題となり、チルウェイヴ～グローファイ～シンセ・ポップ周辺のリスナーから一気に注目を浴び、「50 BEST NEW BANDS OF 2010」の46位に選出。そして彼等のサウンドを絶賛するSchool of Seven Bellsとツアーを行い、互いの楽曲をリミックスしたスプリット7インチをLefseからリリース。そしてWashed Outもリリースしていた、Transparentから7インチをさらにはWashed Out、Toro Y Moi等もリリースしたチルウェイヴ系のカセット・レーベル、Mirror Universe Tapesからのリリースなどを経てVagrantと契約。ライヴの共演暦も多岐に渡り、前述のSchool of Seven Bellsをはじめ、James Blake、White Lies、White Rabbitsなど彼のサウンドを好むアーティスト達とツアーを共にしてきました。 遂にリリースとなるこのファースト・フル・アルバムは、まさにチル・ウェイヴ～シンセ・ポップのネクスト・レヴェルとも言える崇高なサウンド。サンプル、ドラム・マシン、キーボード等を主体にスタジオ制作された本作。New Orderを彷彿とさせる80年代的なドラムからダンサブルなヒップホップ・ビートまでを横断するリズムに、感情揺さぶる美しいハープの音色、R&B的なメロディが融合し、ドリーミーで重層的なシンセとBon IverやJames Blakeとも比較される、Patの中性的で美しくソフトなヴォーカルのレイヤーが溶け込んでいくドリーミーで気高いサウンド。圧倒的な世界観を描き出す感動的作品です。 また先行シングルとなった「 Playing House」にはLefseから作品をリリースしているローファイR&Bプロジェクト、How To Dress WellのTom Kellをゲスト・ヴォーカルにフィーチャー。このトラックをPitchforkは“Active Child’s sound now seems positively ahead of its time.”と評価！ 日本盤は先行発売。そして前述したEP『Curtis Lane』の6曲をまるごとボーナス・トラックとして収録。試聴のみ。大変綺麗な状態です。
