八十八夜とは1年の季節の移り変わりを表す雑節のひとつで立春（毎年2月4日前後）から八十八日目の日のことです。
カレンダーで見ればだいたい5月2日。
ちょうど一番茶の新茶が摘み取られる茶摘みの最盛期です。
歌の通り八十八夜とお茶の関わりは深く、この日に摘み取られたお茶を飲むと一年間無病息災で居られると言われています。
八十八夜は昔から春から夏へ移り変わる節目の日、夏への準備をする日とされ、農業の世界ではなにかと節目となる縁起の良い日です。
特に美味しいと言われているのが4月末～5月末に摘まれる『一番茶の新茶』です。
その理由は『一番茶』は冬の間ずっと養分を貯えて、春の芽生えとともに成長する新芽で、旨味のもとであるテアニンという成分が二番茶以降のお茶よりも豊富に含まれて居ます。
新茶の時期にしか味わえないさわやかな香りも魅力のひとつです。
新緑の香りあふれる新茶は、苦み渋み成分が少なく、やわらかい葉と香り、味、色と、
どれをとってもみずみずしくさわやかです。
お客様からの飲み比べをしたいとのご要望をうけて
