平成16年10月9日から11日まで造幣局東京支局において「記念貨幣発行４０年”Japan Mint Collection ～造幣東京フェア2004～」を開催するに当たり、会場において開催を記念し造幣局が販売した２種類の貨幣セットの一つです。
この貨幣セットは、平成１６年銘の５００円から１円まで計６枚の貨幣と、純銀製の年銘板をプラスチックケースに入れ、外装紙ケースに収納した貨幣セットです。
年銘板は、純銀製で、表面に「東京オリンピック１０００円銀貨幣」の表の図柄（一部分）を、裏面に今年の干支である「申」と西暦年号「 ’０４」をデザインしたものです。
