2012年のメジャー・デビュー以来、ジャズ作曲家としてニューヨークを拠点にワールドワイドな活動を続ける挾間美帆。デンマークラジオ・ビッグバンド(DRBB)の首席指揮者、オランダの名門メトロポール・オーケストラの常任客演指揮者を務めるなど、その活躍ぶりはまさに目を見張るばかりです。2021年にDRBBとのオリジナル・アルバム『イマジナリー・ヴィジョンズ』を発表、2022年11月にはDRBBを率いて日本ツアーを大成功させました。その挾間の活動の中心となるのが、フレンチホルンやストリングスを含む13人編成のジャズ室内楽団“m_unit”。通常のビッグ・バンドとは一味違う、華やかでニュアンスに富んだサウンドが魅力です。本作は、第62回グラミー賞『最優秀ラージ・ジャズ・アンサンブル・アルバム部門』にノミネートされた『ダンサー・イン・ノーホエア』以来、5年ぶりとなるm_unitの第4弾。1曲(アース・ウインド&ファイアー「キャント・ハイド・ラヴ」)を除き、挾間美帆のオリジナル曲で構成。 (C)RS
