高間組の後継、高間慶二が刑務所でのつとめを終え晴れて出社の日を迎えた。長崎の街は変貌していた。高間組をとりまく裟婆の空気は冷たかった。高間組が持っていた興行権は今は松井組に奪われていた。慶二を迎えたのは新吉、重作、小鉄ぐらいのものだった。慶二は父の墓前に組の立直しを誓うと恋人・加代子の反対を押し切って、三代目襲名披露の興行をうった。席上で慶二は親分衆の口ききにより松井から市民会館の興行権利を譲りうける。だが松井の気持はおさまらず、松井組から高間組への露骨な嫌がらせが激しくなっていった。そんな中、松井組に関東を所払いになっていた小岩竜吉がわらじをぬいだ。松井には企みがあった。高間組は一家をあげて興行準備にとりかかり、悪らつな松井らの邪魔だてに苦しみながも興行初日を迎えた。面子をたもち、無事宗家高間の看板を保った。そこへ殺しを頼まれた小岩が現われた…。
