看護師のヨニは、婚約者で医師のスンジェの子を身籠るが、戦争でソウルから避難することに。途中、以前スンジェの病院に来たイルランを見かけ一緒に車に乗せたが爆撃に遭う。二人が死んだものと思ったイルランは、スンジェの実家を訪ねるが婚約者と間違われ、それをよいことにお腹の子供ともどもそのままミン家の嫁になりすます。ところが、本当のヨニも生きており娘を出産していた。それを知ったイルランは、密かにヨニの娘ソナを連れ去り捨ててしまう。その後娘は親切な夫婦に拾われ実子として育てられることに。それから20年後。ソウルでソナはコンニムとして成長していた。イルランはミソン製菓の常務に納まっていたが、本当のヨニはソナを探し続けながら家政婦として暮らしていた…。中央劇場の代表の息子ソノは、コンニムに恋をする。大学の後輩ヘジュはソノが好きだが、振り向いてもらえない。ヘジュは、イルランの娘であり、ミン家の一族として育ってきたが、実際は遊び人スチャンの娘であることを本人も知らない。一方、中央劇場代表の部下ガンウクもまたコンニムに恋してしまい、弟のようにかわいがるソノと三角関係に。そして、ヘジュの実父スチャンは、20年ぶりに見かけたイルランに目をつけ、毒牙かけようと接近し始める。その後、物語が進むと、数奇な巡り合せからコンニムは製パン業に乗り出していく。コンニムは本当の家族に巡り合うことはできるのか？
