テキヤ仲間の忘れ形見、幸薄い娘に父親のような慈愛を抱く寅さん。/幸せを願うあまり定時制高校“お受験のパパ”と化す!?/ようやくさくら(倍賞千恵子)たちがローンでマイホームを購入するなど、第1作から確実に月日が流れているのがわかる『男はつらいよ』シリーズ第26作。変わらないのは寅さん(渥美清)だけで、気を利かせてご祝儀を渡したことから、またまた一騒動!?/しかし、そんな彼も恋模様に関しては徐々に変わりつつあるようで、今回のマドンナすみれ(伊藤蘭)は亡きテキヤ仲間の若い娘ということもあってか、まるで親代わりのような趣で彼女に接していくのだ。/また今回は定時制高校が大きなモチーフの一つとなっているが、これは後の山田洋次監督作品『学校』へと受け継がれていく。/なお、このときの同時上映『土佐の一本釣り』ヒロインは田中好子。キャンディーズ繋がりの二本立興行として、通常よりも若年層が多く劇場に駆けつけるという現象が起きた作品。
