<実銃Cz 805 BREN概要>
古くから旧共産圏で群を抜く工業技術力を保持するチェコは、旧ソ連のAK47導入を唯一断り、その後も自国で銃器開発/製造を続けてきた歴史をもつ。
その中で最も優れた技術力を誇るCz社が、チェコのNATO/EU加盟を機に自国軍の制式モデルVz58の後継機として投入したのがCz805 BREN。
FN社のSCARなどモジュラーアサルトライフルの特長を積極的に取り入れてデザインされ、着脱/折り畳み可能な伸縮ストック、各部のアンビ化、ポリマー樹脂採用など、近代アサルトライフルに要求される基本仕様を押えた設計であることは勿論、マガジンハウジング周辺パーツを交換することで、BRENオリジナル弾薬(6.8mmSPC)を含む3種類の弾薬/弾倉での運用も可能なマルチキャリバー仕様。
(NATO加盟各国で主流な5.56mmNATO弾/STANAGマガジン、7.62x39mm/G36マガジン)
2010年にVz58に替わりチェコ軍の制式採用となった他、NATO加盟国を中心に各国の注目を浴び、軍や法執行機関への試験や民間バージョンの販売が早くも進められている。
