同名の主題歌も戦後の歌謡史に残る国民的愛唱歌として、一世を風靡し、
世代を超えて多くの人々に受け入れられた人気作品。
内容紹介
封建的因習がいまだ残る地方都市。女学生の新子は高校生の六助と姓名判断をしてもらったのがもとで、同級生から偽のラブレターをもらう。
新子から相談を受けた女教師・島崎雪子は、これが卑しい行為であることをクラスの全員にさとすが、
いたずらの首謀者である生徒の浅子は、ふしだらな級友の行為は愛校精神を汚すものだと反論。
クラスの女生徒の多くも浅子たちに同調し、学園や父兄を巻き込んだ大騒動へと発展する。
雪子の味方は校医の沼田、陽気な芸者の梅太郎、新子のボーイフレンド六助やガンちゃんら。
その助けを得て雪子は、町の封建的因習に対して闘いを挑んでゆく。
