1962年に英国ロンドンで結成されたロック・バンドの“ローリング・ストーンズ”が、73年に発表した英国11作目/米国13作目のスタジオ・アルバムで、ジャマイカのキングストン/ロサンゼルス/ロンドンで録音。
本作は全米アルバム・チャート1位/全英アルバム・チャート1位を獲得、シングル・リリースされた「Angie(悲しみのアンジー)」が全米1位を記録。
