養護施設で育ち裏社会で生きてきたキ・テホ(ソン・イルグク)は、一度食べた料理の味は絶対忘れないという特殊な能力を持っていた。彼は偶然テレビで見た素朴な韓国料理店「天地人」の光景を目にし、幼い頃の記憶がよみがえる。その記憶に導かれるように店を訪ねるが、そこは以前、彼が料理に難癖をつけたイタリア料理店のシェフ、イ・カンサン(パク・ジニ)の実家だった。ホテはその店の主人でカンサンの父ギチャン(カン・シニル)に過去のことを聞こうとするが、ギチャンは置き手紙を残し姿を消した後だった…。ひょんなことからその店の料理人として働くことになったホテ。やる気と味に自信はあるものの、料理の基礎を全く知らず、終始カンサンとぶつかるばかり。しかし口うるさいカンサンや「天地人」にやってくるワケありの人々と過ごしていくうちにホテの閉ざされた心は次第に開かれていく…。
