父を探しに京を訪れた雪村千鶴は、奇なる縁にて【新選組】と行動を共にすることになり、やがて彼らと共に幕末の激動に巻き込まれていくのだった。
彼らと過ごす月日は刃をくぐり抜けるような出来事の連続であったが、そんな合間にも夜空に浮かぶ月夜を見上げ、木々の黄葉に季節を感じることもあったはず。
これは千鶴が京に来てから、彼らの戦を最後まで見届けた数年の間 -- その隙間にあったであろう小さな出来事を集めた物語である。
