●釜を天井から鎖で吊るための釘です。
●千家では鉋先を下座に向けます（亭主が点前座に進行方向と平行に）。
●釣釜は炉の中心に鎖が下がって釜を吊ることになります。よって蛭釘の鉋の所に、この鎖が掛かり、炉の中心に鎖が下がらなければなりません。
蛭釘本体の中心に芯を合わせるのではなく、鉋先の鎖が掛かる位置と炉壇の中心を合わせることが大切です。
