80’Sビンテージ♪映画DOGTOWNでもおなじみZ－BOYZのスケボーの土台を 築き上げたパイオニア、「ステイシー・ペラルタ」の初期の頃のスポンサーなどもしていた、サーフ、スケートブランドとして長年支持されている、GORDON & SMITH（ゴードン＆スミス）のピースマーク・リングです♪
現在、海外のヴィンテージマーケットではコレクターズジュエリーとして人気を博し、日本でもだんだん値段が高騰してきております♪
1960年代後半のアメリカのヒッピー運動やベトナム反戦運動と共に反戦の象徴として世界中に広まったシンボルマークですね♪
デザインしたジェラルド・ホルトム氏は核軍縮の意味も込めていたと言われており、手旗信号の「N」と「D」の文字を重ねたデザインとなっていて、「N」は「Nuclear(核)」、「D」は「Disarmament(軍縮)」の頭文字を表し、「核軍縮」を訴えるものとなっております♪
ホルトム氏はピースマークの逆さまバージョンも好きだったようで、マークを逆さまにすると、手旗信号の「N」の文字が「U」に変わり、「Unilateral Disarmament(一方的な軍縮)」を意味するそうです♪
ピースマークには核軍縮だけではなく、本当に「平和」や「反戦」の願いも込められておりました♪
素材は合金にシルバーメッキ×エナメル♪
サイズは15.5号、実寸で指周り56.0mmくらい、フェイス部分のピースマークの円の直径サイズで1.6cmくらいです♪
状態は、未使用のデッドストックでたいへん良好です♪
