“ザ・シャドウズ”は、1958年に英国ロンドンで“ザ・ドリフターズ”として結成され、59年に“ザ・シャドウズ”と改名、59年の“クリフ・リチャード”名義のアルバム『Cliff Sings』でバックを担当してレコード・デビュー。クリフのバック・バンドを58年から68年まで務めました。
本盤は、当時のヒット・シングルをカヴァーした79年の『String Of Hits』が、久々に全英1位を獲得し大ヒットしたことを受けて、それまでに発表していたその路線に沿ったカヴァー曲を纏め、80年にリリースされた、コンピレーション・アルバム。
