I've been making Jewish Huck /Swedish Weaving prayer shawls for over 25 years. It began as an idea to make one for each of my four sons, and developed into a life long hobby. I am grateful to Ellen Temkin for creating this needlework technique for a prayer shawl and love using her Jewish designs in every tallit I stitch. Making these has enriched my life and I hope to share this love with the readers of my book. It has detailed descriptions on the technique and shows the Jewish patterns that Ellen created. Dozens of women and a few men have enjoyed creating prayer shawls for their families- I hope that this book encourages many more to continue the tradition- hiddur mitzvah- enhancing our ritual objects with creativity and love.
