Stokesがニューヨークの街頭でストリートパフォーマンスを行っていた際に、ベーシストのRobert Andersonがメンバーに参加させて欲しいとの要望から５人構成のR&Bヴォーカルグループを組み改めてスタートを切り同じくストリートパフォーマンスをしていたところTerry Lewis・Karyn White夫婦の目に留まったことからチャンスを得て、レコーディングに漕ぎ着けている。そんな幸先の良い最中にJames Smithが射殺されてしまうという不幸にも見舞われながらもJimmy Jam & Terry Lewisの全面バックアップのもと1995年にデビューアルバム「SOLO」をリリース。ブラックミュージックがHipHop(否定はしてないですよ！私もHipHop大好きなんで）に傾倒する流れの中、SOLOの古き良き音楽(SOUL)を持ったスタイルは、シングルカットナンバーHeavenがR&Bチャート７位と素晴らしい業績を残す。今回はJam & Lewisの元を離れ、セルプロデュース作も含む2ndアルバム「4 Bruthas & A Bass」を紹介。本アルバムでは前記事でUpしたMichaelJacksonのレーベルMJJからデビューした実力派女性R&Bグループ「Brownstone」の参加や、Raphael SaadiqやAngie Stoneもソングライティングしていたりとナイスなアルバム。2ndもR＆B名盤です！！1 Touch Me
