没後初めて世に出る著書。５２年の生涯を長時間にわたり回顧した未公開テープが発掘され、その人生観が蘇る。
没後、初めて公開された波乱の“自分史”。
小樽幼年時代、湘南青春時代、太陽族、ヨット、喧嘩、恋、結婚、独立プロ、成功、失敗、負債、大病、そして生還──。そこに、誰にも支配されず、誰をも支配せず生きた自然児・石原裕次郎がいる。最終章には、亡くなる一か月前、まさに最後の時を超えて行く直前までつけていた手帳を、まき子夫人の許可を得て公開した。「残された文字に石原の心が見えてなりません」と解説の中で夫人は語る。

更に深く彼の生き方を理解できたよぅに思えます。本と同時に映画を見ることによって、幼なさの残る顔から徐々に成長していく姿を見る事ができ、様々な障害に向かって行く姿に感動致しました。長く生きていてほしかった。
兄石原慎太郎、妻北原三枝、渡哲也、映画やＴＶなどについて語られています。黒部の太陽でしたっけ？あれ、そんな裏があったの！？と、そこのエピソードを初めて読んだ自分かなり驚きました。そして、すごい生き方したんだなと・・・
