文庫です。 きれいなほうです。「出雲は逆立ちしている。出雲の何もかもが、あべこべなのであ
る」。本書の「はじめに」で著者は、いかに出雲という国が謎めいている存在で
あるかを示唆する。さらに「たとえば、旧暦の十月を普通は神無月という
が、出雲では神在月という」「出雲大社の注連縄は、世間一般の神社の縒り方と
は正反対に縒っている」と続けて、出雲の特異性を紹介する。
出雲の特異性は、まだある。全国各所に見られる前方後円墳に対する、出雲の
「前方後方墳」。五、六世紀に制度化され、律令制度が廃止されていく中で廃絶
されたはずの「国造(家)」が、現在まで続いているという事実。表の現人神が
天皇なら、裏の現人神が出雲国造なのであろうか? 著者は出雲に対する謎の多
さを事例をあげて強調する。
ヤマト建国以前に興隆し、建国後には急速に衰退していった出雲。この古代史最
大の謎を解く鍵は出雲にある、と著者はいう。
