無伴奏女声合唱による全2章。2003年8月3日（川上村文化センター うぐいすホール）合唱音楽の新たな地平Part 5 八ヶ岳ミュージックセミナー（指揮：信長貴富）にて〈第一章〉が委嘱初演され、2004年3月12日（川口総合文化センター リリア 音楽ホール）女声合唱団 青い鳥 定期演奏会Vol.12（指揮：栗山文昭）にて全曲が委嘱初演された。2024年5月3日（すみだトリフォニーホール 大ホール）Tokyo Cantat 2024「合唱音楽の生誕の季」にて再演（指揮：山脇卓也／演奏：女声合唱団ぴゅあはーと、早稲田大学女声合唱団）されることを機に、初演から約20年の時を経て刊行の運びとなった。《初心のうた》第3曲〈とむらいのあとは〉にも登場する詩句 \“Can any tune be more paralysing than the pointed gun?（銃よりひとをしびれさす歌がありえるか？）\” がこの作品の作曲動機となっている。無伴奏女声合唱の冷たく残酷な響きと四行英語詩によるシャープな語感によって衝撃的な楽想を試みた意欲作。手によるミュートを使い発する音や、無声音による言葉の語りなどが導入され、声にならない言葉、言葉にならない声を音楽の中に掬い取りながら、人間やその他の存在への「祈りのうた」が歌われる。
