本の概要彼以前は西洋料理だった。彼がほんもののフランス料理をもたらした。その男、辻静雄の半生を描く伝記小説。早稲田大学を卒業後、大阪読売新聞社に入社するものの、2年で退職。1960年、大阪・阿倍野に辻調理師専門学校を開校する。フランス料理をみずからの舌をもって味わうために、九週間のフランス旅行で実に百軒のレストランに足を運んだ。日本一の調理師専門学校の経営者になると同時に世界的な料理研究家となった。日本で初めての専門的なフランス料理研究書である『フランス料理理論と実際』をはじめ著書多数。またフランス人以外では初めて「フランス国家最優秀職人章」を授与された。TBS系列番組「料理天国」の番組監修をはじめ、一般向けにフランス料理文化の普及にもつとめた。
