著者について
1930年、東京・向島生まれ。東京大学文学部卒業後、文藝春秋入社。松本清張、司馬遼太郎らの担当編集者をつとめる。「週刊文春」「文藝春秋」編集長、専務取締役などをへて作家。「歴史探偵」を名乗り、おもに近現代史に関する著作を発表。著書に『漱石先生ぞな、もし』(正続、文春文庫 新田次郎文学賞)、『ノモンハンの夏』(文春文庫 山本七平賞)など多数。『昭和史1926‐1945』『昭和史 戦後篇1945‐1989』(共に平凡社ライブラリー)で毎日出版文化賞特別賞、2015年、菊池寛賞受賞。
