沈香とは、東南アジア諸国の密林で沈丁花科アキラリア属の喬木から採取される香木です。
産地はベトナム、カンボジア、タイ、ラオス、ミャンマー、インドの一部、マレーシア、中国、インドネシア、西イリアンなど熱帯、亜熱帯圏の国々で採れます。
沈香の産出地で香りが異なり、『甘い』、『酸っぱい』、『辛い』、『苦い』などの味に例えて表現されるようです。 また同じ木から採取したものであっても微妙に香りが違うために、わずかな違いを利き分ける香道の組香に使用されています。
沈香は植物の中のダイヤモンド! 心が落ち着く香りで、是非利用して見ましょう。
