■ 商品情報 ■

《 VPIクリーニング済み。全曲ヘッドフォンによる大音量で試聴》

BN録音の諸作品と並行して、JM独立後にPrestigeに残した2枚の
うちの1枚。勢いに圧倒される聴き所満載のハードバップ快作。
当時のMobleyは売れっ子であちこちに顔を出しますが、ここでの
アドリブはメロディアスで歯切れ良く、そして端正。収録された
物憂げなバラード2曲も繊細にしてきめ細かく、素晴らしい出来。
また、もちろんMobleyの演奏もいいですが、若干23歳の Byrdの
ペットが溌剌として心地よく、ブラウニーを彷彿とさせる
ふくよかで艶やかなトーンに痺れます。
個人的には2枚目の『Mobley's 2nd Message』よりも好きです。
ワンホーンで情感溢れる美しいソロのバラード「Little Girl Blue」
モンクが手掛けた「52nd Street Theme」など。
