しばれくんが寒暖計をもっています低緯度オーロラが観測された日本一寒い町です
「日本一のしばれ」のまち、陸別町。 しばれは北海道弁で厳しい寒さを意味します。
オーロラは北欧など高緯度で見られる緑や白色のものが有名ですが、日本のように低緯度で現れる場合は赤く見えます。
本町で初めて低緯度オーロラの撮影に成功したのは1989年のこと。 以来、「オーロラの見える町」としても知られるようになりました。
